\n\nOne of the most sacred rituals of Dhanteras for Hindus is that of buying gold and silver. The precious metals signify wealth, abundance and prosperity. It is believed that bringing these precious metals home on this day invites the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber.
\n\n"Dhanteras Puja is also known as Dhantrayodashi. The day of Dhanteras is also observed as Dhanwantari Triodasi or Dhanvantri Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the God of Ayurveda. Yamadeep is another ritual on the same Trayodashi Tithi when the lamp for the God of death is lit outside home to ward off any untimely death of any family members," states Drik Panchang.
\n\nWhile shopping can be done at any time on Dhanteras, making purchases during an auspicious muhurat is believed to bring better results.
