Spain created history and etched their name in record books as they broke Australia’s long-standing record of most consecutive wins in international cricket. Spain have been undefeated in T20I since 2023. They registered the first win of their memorable streak against the Isle of Man. They handed them four defeats over two days in February 2023. They returned to T20Is in April 2024 and defeated Jersey in two matches on April 14. Spain defeated Croatia 5-0 in August 2024 before registering wins against Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Greece and Finland.
Spain again defeated Croatia 5-0 in December 2025 to equal Australia’s record of 20 consecutive wins. They broke Australia’s record by chasing down the target of 132 against Finland. They extended their streak to 22 wins by defeating Isle of Man on Saturday (August 15).
Spain will face Luxembourg and Bulgaria in their next two matches on August 17 and 18, respectively. They can become the first team to register 25 back-to-back wins during the ongoing qualifiers.

Australia’s memorable streak
Australia dominated world cricket for more than a decade and won three back-to-back ODI World Cups in 1999, 2003 and 2007. They kicked off their unbeaten streak in international cricket with a win against England in January 2003. They registered their 20th consecutive win against West Indies in May 2003 to gain a 4-0 lead in the seven-match ODI series.
WI broke their streak by winning the fifth ODI. Interestingly, Australia also lost the next two ODIs, but they won the series 4-3.
Uganda sit in the third spot with 17 consecutive wins. Australia, who won 16 back-to-back games in 2000-01, also sit in the fourth position. They kicked off their streak with a consecutive innings win against West Indies. They defeated India by 10 wickets to register their 16th consecutive win at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
India won the next two Tests of the famous 2001 Test series to clinch the series 2-1. India famously won the Kolkata Test despite a 274-run lead and being asked to follow on.
