Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 returned 19 years after its first installment, released in 2007. The film brought back a wave of nostalgia for the ardent fans of this franchise. The project registered a bumper box office opening of Rs 22 crore. Despite its clash with Batwara 1947 and Vishwanath & Sons, the romantic-actioner did well. Sunny Deol’s partition drama, on the other hand, collected Rs 5.75 crore on day one of its theatrical run. That said, both movies witnessed an upward trend in their earnings on day two. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Awarapan 2 earned a staggering Rs 33.75 crore from 10,496 shows on day two. The film had 55 percent occupancy. In just two days, the Emraan Hashmi-starrer surpassed the Rs 50 crore mark. While it earned Rs 55.75 crore in India, the romantic actioner earned a whopping Rs 72.90 crore at the worldwide box office.

On the other hand, Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 saw an upward trend in its box office collection on day two. As per the tracking website, the partition drama collected Rs 13.5 crore from 8,071 shows, bringing its two-day total to Rs 22.91 crore. As far as its worldwide earnings are concerned, they stand at Rs 26.41 crore.

After Awarapan 2 concludes its theatrical run, the movie will reportedly premiere on Amazon Prime Video. However, the makers haven’t made an official announcement about the film’s OTT release date yet. As for Batwara 1947, the streaming partner for the partition drama isn’t known yet.

Apart from Emraan, the Nitin Kakkar directorial features Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Puran Gabbi and Suvinder Vicky in key roles. Produced by Vishesh Films, the movie was reportedly mounted on a budget of Rs 45 crore. This film marked Emraan’s comeback as Shivam Pandit, while Disha has essayed the character of Zara.

Talking about Batwara 1947, it has been directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions.
