US President Donald Trump has again claimed that he won the 2020 presidential election against Joe Biden, saying more than 24,000 noncitizens voted illegally. In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump said the US Census Bureau had begun comparing 2020 voter records with citizenship records.

“The Census Bureau has begun checking the voter records from 2020 against their Citizenship Records. On the first 128,000,000 Voters, the Census Bureau proves that over 24,000 noncitizens voted illegally!” he wrote.

He said the bureau would analyse another 32 million voter records and predicted that the number would increase.

“The Census Bureau is going to analyse the next 32,000,000 Voters, and this number will explode. I WON THE ELECTION!” Trump said.

He also renewed his call for Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, legislation that seeks to require proof of citizenship and voter identification in US federal elections.

The claim that more than 24,000 noncitizens voted illegally in the 2020 election has not been substantiated by the information provided.

Trump’s comments came after he praised India’s election system and highlighted its use of photo identification for voters.

In another Truth Social post, he referred to a conversation involving India’s Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. “Earlier this month, India’s Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, asked our Administration, How can you have Elections in the US without a valid Photo ID?” Trump said.

Referring to India’s most recent general election, he added: “India’s last Election had 646,000,000 Voters! Less than 1 per cent voted by mail, and every single Voter had to have a VALID Photo Identity Document.”

Trump again called for the passage of the SAVE America Act, saying: “We need to pass THE SAVE AMERICA ACT, now!”

According to the White House, the proposed legislation would ensure that only US citizens are eligible to vote in federal elections. “American citizens and only American citizens should decide American elections,” the White House said, describing the bill as a “common sense, bipartisan bill.”

What is the Save America Act?

The legislation would require people registering to vote in federal elections to provide proof that they are US citizens. It would also require voters to present a valid photo ID before casting their ballots.

Federal law already requires voters in national elections to be US citizens, but does not currently require them to provide documentary proof of citizenship when registering.

Some US states already require voters to show photo identification at polling stations.

The bill would also create a process for people whose names have changed to provide additional documents to verify their identity. Supporters say the measure would strengthen election security, while concerns have been raised about the additional burden on people who changed their names after marriage.

Election officials who register voters without obtaining the required proof of citizenship could face criminal penalties under the proposed legislation.
