Volvo is set to launch the EX90 and ES90 in India on October 12. With this, the brand will bring its two 90-series electric models to the country. The EX90 is a three-row electric SUV while the ES90 is an electric fastback-style sedan. Their arrival will give Volvo a pair of larger EVs positioned above the smaller EX30 and EC40 in its electric portfolio. What remains unclear is the India-specific specification. Volvo has not yet disclosed the final battery size, motor setup, range or price for either car. Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming models.

Volvo EX90: What To Expect?

The EX90 is a seven-seat electric SUV and will become Volvo’s largest fully electric model in India. Volvo’s Indian website currently lists a preliminary range of up to 600 km although the company clearly states that the figure is based on estimates and remains subject to certification.

Globally, the EX90 is available in multiple powertrain configurations. The 2026 model has also moved to an 800-volt electrical system which Volvo says enables faster charging and improved efficiency. The upgraded model uses a more powerful computing system as well. This allows for additional safety and driver-assistance functions to be delivered through software updates.

However, those global specifications should not be treated as the India-spec package yet. Volvo is yet to spell out which battery and motor combination will be sold here.

ES90 Is The Other New EV

The ES90 is an electric five-seat fastback sedan. It sits on the same broad EV architecture as the EX90 and uses an 800V electrical system. Unlike the conventional three-box S90, the ES90 has a more pronounced fastback rear section.

Volvo offers the ES90 overseas with different power outputs. In the UK, for example, the range includes a 333hp single-motor version, a 456hp Twin Motor version as well as a 680hp Twin Motor Performance version. The India specification is yet to be confirmed.

The cabin follows Volvo’s latest layout, with a 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen, a digital driver display along with Google-based connected functions. International versions can also be equipped with a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, 360-degree camera and a range of active safety systems.

India Price And Launch Details

The October 12 date gives buyers a clear timeline but pricing is still under wraps. The same goes for the exact battery, motor and equipment combinations that Volvo will offer here.

The EX90 is likely to be the more relevant model for buyers looking for a large luxury electric SUV, while the ES90 will target customers considering premium electric sedans. Volvo has been expanding its EV range in India and the company had earlier confirmed that two flagship 90-series EVs would join its local lineup.

For now, the important part is the launch date. Volvo will reveal the India-spec EX90 and ES90 on October 12, after which buyers will have a clearer picture of their prices, range, features and positioning in the Indian market.
