Is Andrew Garfield coming back as Spider-Man? Here's the truth
Andrew Garfield can’t seem to escape Spider-Man questions, even five years removed from the franchise. This week, timelines exploded with claims that he’s officially back — a multi-picture Marvel deal, a new Amazing Spider-Man 3.

On August 18, an X account called Chaos Crave posted that Garfield had signed a multi-picture extension with Marvel, including a standalone The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The post raced across social media, racking up millions of views and getting reshared by other fan accounts.

However, Chaos Crave openly identifies itself as a parody and satire account, unaffiliated with any real entertainment outlet. No trade publication, no Marvel statement, and no word from Garfield himself has backed up the claim.

The Amazing Spider-Man series ended abruptly after two films in 2014 following a lukewarm box-office run, and Sony shelved plans for a third instalment.

If Garfield does swing back into the MCU, many fans think it’s more likely to happen inside an ensemble film than a solo one. Some fans argue that Garfield’s arc already got a satisfying send-off in Spider-Man: No Way Home and doesn’t need a new chapter of his own.

There’s also long-running speculation that Tobey Maguire could reunite with Garfield for another multiverse team-up, echoing their surprise appearance alongside Tom Holland in No Way Home. Again, Marvel has made no formal announcement.

All this speculation is happening while Marvel and Sony are riding extremely high. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed $2 billion at the worldwide box office, becoming just the second film ever — after Avengers: Endgame — to hit that mark this fast, and the eighth film in history to reach $2 billion at all.
