A small plane collided with a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter at Carlisle Airport during a training exercise, resulting in the death of the plane’s pilot, Dr. Paul Sokoloski, and injuries to two state troopers aboard the helicopter.

The collision happened Wednesday evening near Carlisle Regional Airport in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, during a training exercise involving the police helicopter. Officials said the small aircraft and the Bell 407 helicopter collided near the runway shortly before 7 pm.
Plane Crashes Into Police Helicopter
The aircraft involved were a Cessna 150 and a Pennsylvania State Police Bell 407 helicopter. Authorities described the collision as extremely violent, with the helicopter losing its blades and tail boom before crashing onto its side.
The newly surfaced footage shows the aircraft approaching the helicopter before the collision, offering a closer look at the moments surrounding the crash.
The Cessna’s sole occupant, the pilot, was killed. The two troopers aboard the helicopter survived but were injured and taken to hospital for treatment. Officials said their conditions were stable.
Who Was Killed In The Carlisle Airport Crash?
The pilot was later identified as Dr Paul Sokoloski, a 57-year-old emergency physician. He was the only person aboard the Cessna 150.
The two Pennsylvania State Police troopers aboard the helicopter were also injured in the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the collision to determine what led to the aircraft coming into contact near the runway.
