Cristiano Ronaldo mocked the rumours around his wedding to Georgina Rodriguez. Thousands of fans flocked to the streets of Funchal in Madeira, believing that the Portugal veteran was getting married; however, they later found out that the ceremony belonged to another couple.

The rumours of Ronaldo getting married were put to rest by the Cathedral, which posted on Facebook: “Congratulations to the couple Nicole and Fábio. After a lot of confusion on the street with so many journalists and tourists, we finally managed to close the church and celebrate.”

The hilarious turn of events caught the attention of Ronaldo, who reacted to the post by “Jornal da Madeira” on Instagram with laughing emojis.

Ronaldo’s sister Elma Aveiro also denied rumours of Ronaldo’s marriage. “Why do people think Ronaldo is getting married when he’s never even announced it himself?” she wrote on Instagram.

“In short, don’t they realise the media doesn’t know anything at all? Do they really want to know?! They’re making up stories.”

According to a report in 365Scores Arabic, Ronaldo could miss Al Nassr’s Saudi Pro League opener against Al Fateh as well as the King’s Cup clash against Al-Dariyah. The veteran thus could make his return against Al-Riyadh on August 21; however, an official update on his return is yet to come.
