The wait is finally over for fans of Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic Ramayana. The makers have officially announced that Ramayana: Part 1 will hit theatres worldwide on November 6, setting up a grand festive release just ahead of Diwali.

Alongside the announcement, the makers also unveiled a new English-language trailer, offering international audiences a fresh glimpse into the mythological epic. Sharing the trailer on X, Sony Pictures wrote, “An epic journey unlike anything seen before. Watch the official trailer for #Ramayana, coming to theatres worldwide November 6.”

What the English trailer shows

The three-minute, 54-second English trailer opens with Yash’s Ravana, who proclaims himself the ruler of the three worlds before unleashing destruction. To restore balance, Lord Vishnu takes birth as Ram, played by Ranbir Kapoor.

The trailer follows Ram’s journey from Ayodhya to his 14-year exile, accompanied by Sita (Sai Pallavi) and Lakshman (Ravi Dubey). It also depicts Ravana’s abduction of Sita, setting the stage for the epic battle between good and evil. The trailer features the principal cast delivering their dialogues in English.

About the film

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is planned as a two-part mythological saga. The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.

The film also stars Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Arun Govil as Dasharatha, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor in key roles.

The two-part Ramayana is reportedly being made on a combined budget of around $500 million (approximately over ₹4,000 crore), according to Variety.

While Ramayana: Part 1 is set to release on November 6, the makers have also slated Ramayana: Part 2 for a Diwali 2027 release, completing the two-film adaptation of the epic.
