Security checks at Delhi Metro stations will be intensified from August 9, Sunday, as part of enhanced security arrangements ahead of Independence Day on August 15, 2026. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will carry out stricter security checks at Metro stations during this period, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a security advisory.

The intensified checks may lead to longer queues at some Metro stations, particularly during peak hours. The situation is expected to continue until August 16. Passengers have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and keep some extra time in hand while travelling by Metro during these days.

The DMRC has also requested passengers to cooperate with CISF personnel during the security checks to ensure smooth movement and security at Metro stations. The heightened security measures come ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 15, when security arrangements are usually strengthened across the national capital.
