Nearly a decade after Chester Bennington’s passing left Linkin Park at a crossroads, the band is preparing to chronicle its journey. Titled Unshatter, the new documentary has been directed by Joe Hahn and is due to arrive in cinemas across the globe on September 30.

Produced jointly by Linkin Park, CJ 4DPlex and Trafalgar, the documentary offers an intimate look at the band’s transformation following a period of profound loss. The story culminates in the From Zero era, with worldwide screenings planned in 2D, ScreenX and 4DX cinemas.

Joe Hahn’s documentary paints a detailed portrait of Linkin Park’s latest chapter through a mix of rare archival footage, personal backstage moments, studio work and performances.

It follows the band from its sessions in 2022 to the creation of From Zero, highlighting the friendships and creative spirit that shaped the group’s return alongside new members Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain.

As part of the documentary’s launch, Linkin Park will also unveil the companion album Unshatter (Live From São Paulo) on September 25. The release covers material from across the band’s catalogue and features exclusive live recordings that were left out of the cinematic version.

“Unshatter follows a very particular moment in Linkin Park’s history and documents a path through loss, uncertainty, friendship, and reinvention,” Hahn said, as reported by Deadline.

“I hope longtime fans see parts of our journey they’ve never seen before, and I hope people who are just discovering our music come away with a better understanding of how we got here. But even beyond Linkin Park, I hope people connect with it as a story about relationships, resilience, and what it really takes to move forward when you don’t have all the answers.”

Rather than retelling events with the benefit of hindsight, Hahn chose to document the band’s journey in real time, allowing audiences to witness the uncertainty, key discussions and turning points as they unfolded.

The documentary also celebrates the unwavering support of Linkin Park’s fanbase and offers new viewers an intimate account of how the group rebuilt its artistic vision.

“What started as filming one show slowly became something much bigger,” Hahn said as per a Billboard report.

“We kept realising there was a story unfolding in real time as we figured out what the future of Linkin Park would look like.”
