Karoline Leavitt, who is set to leave her role as White House press secretary at the end of August, is married to New Hampshire real estate developer Nicholas Riccio. President Donald Trump announced that Leavitt will transition to a role as one of his top outside advisers after leaving the White House.

Leavitt and Riccio became engaged in December 2023 after meeting at a restaurant in 2022 during Leavitt’s congressional campaign. Riccio is 32 years older than Leavitt, who has described him as “an introvert” and her “opposite.”

The couple married in January 2025, shortly before Trump’s second inauguration.

In December 2025, Leavitt announced that she was pregnant with her second child, making her the first White House press secretary to be pregnant while serving in the role.

Following the birth of her daughter, Leavitt recently returned to the White House but said she ultimately decided to leave her position because she felt she could not be the mother her two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy and attention required by the White House press secretary role.

Trump said Leavitt will continue working with him as a top outside adviser, while she said she will remain a vocal advocate for MAGA and the Republican Party.
