Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning to move back to the UK later this month, six years after leaving Britain and stepping back from royal duties. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to relocate to a private, non-royal residence outside London for an extended period.

Their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, have been enrolled at a British school and are expected to begin classes in September. King Charles was informed of the planned move on Sunday, while Prince William and Princess Catherine have also been made aware of the decision.

The couple’s return comes after a July visit to King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove. The meeting was described by the Palace as a private family occasion and marked the first time the King had seen his grandchildren in person in more than four years.

Harry and Meghan’s move comes after they left the UK and royal duties in early 2020 and relocated to California. Their return will not change their status within the Royal Family.

The couple will remain private individuals and non-working royals, with no current plans for either of them to resume official royal duties. They are also expected to continue their business activities.

According to reports, King Charles welcomes the opportunity to spend more time with his younger son and his family in a personal capacity. However, there will be no alteration to Harry and Meghan’s status or role.

The couple had previously said they intended to balance their time between the United Kingdom and North America while becoming financially independent and stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family.

Family relations had been strained following their departure. Harry and Meghan had not been in the UK together since 2022, when they attended Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

Their latest return represents a significant development in their relationship with the Royal Family, particularly following Harry’s July meeting with his father. However, the move does not signal a return to working royal duties.
