A 63-year-old New York grandmother who disappeared while visiting a longtime friend in Las Vegas has been found dead near Harry Reid International Airport, according to local reports. Alisa Goods, a mother of five and grandmother of five, was last seen on 8 August after leaving her friend’s apartment near the Las Vegas Strip to go shopping.

Her body was found early on Thursday near Terminal 1 at the airport. Police responded at about 01:45 local time after a body was discovered, according to KTNV.

Investigators have found surveillance footage from the day she disappeared showing a woman believed to be Goods near the airport that afternoon, local reports said.

Police have not disclosed her cause of death or explained how she came to be at the airport. Her niece, Alana Calloway, said the family had been informed that Goods had been found, but not in the way they had hoped. “Our hearts are broken. We were notified that my aunt was found—unfortunately, not the way we wanted her to be. This is an unimaginable time. Words cannot describe the pain our family is experiencing right now,” she said.

“We just want to thank the public for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers. We also want to thank the media for helping bring attention to this situation. This hurts so deeply. We are still trying to learn the details surrounding her death. We ask for continued prayers and privacy as we grieve.”

Goods had been visiting Roger John, a friend of 20 years, when she disappeared. John, who police have said is not a suspect, helped search for her and put up missing-person flyers in the area where she was last seen.

Her family said she had recently undergone several operations on her legs, which would have made it difficult for her to travel far on foot.

Goods was last known to have reached a CVS near Paradise Road and East Harmon Avenue after leaving her friend’s home.

She was reported missing two days later. Her daughter, Kristin, travelled from New Jersey to Las Vegas to search for her, including checking hospitals and morgues.

The family became increasingly concerned after Goods’ mobile phone was disconnected but began sending messages asking for money. The messages later included requests for Bitcoin. Calloway said she believed the messages were not from her aunt.

“It’s not her. And I just kept feeling like I lost my breath. It took my breath away, I couldn’t breathe,” she said.

The family had continued to appeal for information during the search, while questions remained about where Goods had gone after leaving the CVS. Her discovery near the airport has now left relatives seeking answers about what happened between her disappearance and her death.

Police have not yet provided further details about the circumstances surrounding her death.
