Netflix subscribers are set to receive an exclusive early preview of the highly anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto VI on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET (12:30 am IST on August 28), courtesy of a partnership between streaming giant and Rockstar Games.

Fans will be able to watch the trailer on Rockstar Games’ official YouTube channel and the game’s website from 9 p.m. ET (6:30 am IST on August 28), six hours after the first release.

The preview, titled Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, marks a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the global streaming service and the video game developer.

Brandon Riegg, Vice President of Nonfiction Series at Netflix, praised the collaboration and said, “Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right. The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we’re honoured that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first.”

Grand Theft Auto VI focuses on dual protagonists Jason and Lucia. When a seemingly straightforward heist goes wrong, the duo find themselves drawn into a complex criminal conspiracy spanning the fictional state of Leonida, forcing them to rely on one another to survive.

“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive,” reads the game’s official description.

The game is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19.

Details surrounding the extended presentation remain under wraps. Rockstar has not confirmed whether it will feature additional gameplay, new information about the game world or a deeper dive into its mechanics. For now, the studio has simply billed the footage as an extended look.

The latest preview will build on two trailers released in the preceding years. Both attracted enormous attention from fans, with the second trailer, launched in 2025, drawing hundreds of millions of views across platforms on its first day. The response reflects the intense anticipation for the franchise’s next major release.

Rockstar has set the India price at ₹5,999 for the base edition, while the Ultimate Edition will be available for ₹7,499. The more expensive package adds exclusive vehicles, weapons and apparel, as well as additional content tied to the stories of Jason and Lucia.
