What Happened To Pierre ‘P’ Thomas? Quality Control Co-founder in ICU After Heart Attack
Pierre “P” Thomas, the cofounder of Quality Control Music, is in intensive care at a Las Vegas hospital after suffering a heart attack, according to the information provided.
Thomas, 45, is under doctors’ care in the ICU, with family members by his side and consulting with his medical team about the next steps. Quality Control Music confirmed on Friday that Thomas is alive and receiving medical care, while asking for privacy for him and his family.
“We want to clarify that Pierre ‘P’ Thomas is alive and currently hospitalized receiving medical care,” the company said in a social media statement. It also asked people to keep Thomas and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
Thomas founded Quality Control Music with Kevin “Coach K” Lee in 2013. The pair turned their Atlanta operation into a major independent music label and helped guide artists including Migos, Lil Baby, Lil Yachty and City Girls to stardom. Cardi B also previously had a consulting arrangement with the company.
Thomas and Lee invested $1 million and a year into building Quality Control’s headquarters on Atlanta’s west side. The facility included four recording studios, while the company also hired its own radio and promotion staff.
In 2018, Thomas and Lee were honored with Billboard’s Executive of the Year Award for building Quality Control into a major force in hip-hop. Thomas later received Billboard’s first peer-voted R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players’ Choice Award in 2023.
Quality Control expanded into sports in 2018, representing professional athletes across football, basketball and baseball. In February 2023, South Korean music company HYBE acquired QC Media Holdings for $300 million, with $250 million paid in cash and $50 million in stock.
Thomas has also spoken about his difficult years before entering the music business, including a period when he was on parole and struggled to find employment. He has said he considers himself the person who broke a generational cycle of poverty in his family.
