Americans are facing record-high gasoline prices over the Labor Day weekend, with the national average expected to cross the $4-per-gallon mark amid rising crude oil prices and growing concerns over global energy supplies. The increase comes as millions of Americans travel during the final major holiday weekend of summer, while high fuel costs are putting additional pressure on household budgets.

The national average gasoline price stood at around $4.13 per gallon on Thursday, nearly $1 higher than the level recorded a year earlier, according to GasBuddy. Analyst Patrick De Haan said the average could reach about $4.03 per gallon on Labor Day, surpassing the previous record of $3.83 set in 2012.
