Beijing is placing artificial intelligence alongside semiconductors, quantum technology, biotechnology, brain-computer interfaces, and nuclear fusion as part of a broader push.The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the country’s top state research institution, has outlined these priorities in its new five-year plan, as per a report in the South China Morning Post.The blueprint covers basic and interdisciplinary research, strategic technologies and scientific talent, while also calling for greater use of AI in scientific research.
