Vehicles were seen stuck in long queues at the Delhi-Ghazipur border as traffic police intensified checks under winter pollution curbs.
\n\nHeavy traffic congestion was reported at the Delhi-Ghazipur border on Monday as vehicles queued up to enter the national capital amid intensified checks by the traffic police. Officials were enforcing restrictions on vehicles under the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), which came into effect on November 1 to curb winter pollution.
\n\nVisuals from the border showed vehicles stuck in long queues, with traffic moving slowly as police personnel checked those entering Delhi. Several vehicles that did not meet the prescribed emission standards were reportedly turned away, causing delays for commuters.
\n\nThe checks come as Delhi's air quality deteriorated to the 'very poor' category, according to data on the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) website.
\n\nWhich Vehicles Are Allowed To Enter Delhi?
\n\nUnder the revised GRAP restrictions, vehicles registered outside Delhi that comply with BS-IV or older emission standards will not be allowed to operate in the national capital from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027.
\n\nOnly vehicles meeting BS-VI emission standards, along with CNG and electric vehicles, will be permitted to operate, subject to applicable rules and exemptions.
