AI image generators are being used to recreate people in 1980s-style clothes, hairstyles, poses, cars, studio settings and film photography. Piyush Goyal, Kiren Rijiju, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Anurag Thakur and Chirag Paswan are among those who joined the trend.
\n\nGoyal goes retro: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal shared an AI-generated image styled as an 1980s portrait. “Vibing to the 80s trend,” Goyal wrote. In the image, he wears a grey suit, white shirt and aviator sunglasses. Sepia tones, film grain and a faded texture have been added to make the picture resemble an old studio photograph from the period.
\n\nRijiju joins trend: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju shared an AI-generated 1980s-style image on X. He is shown wearing sunglasses, a blazer and an open shirt while posing beside a car. “Why is everyone going back to the 80s vibes? I'm also forced to 80s nostalgia!” Rijiju wrote. He later shared an actual photograph of himself from the 1980s.
