\n\nIndian athletes are preparing for the Asian Games by spending nights inside tiny, shipping container-style rooms. With no athlete village for the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) has set up makeshift container rooms in Patiala and Bengaluru to give the athletes a taste of what to expect in Japan. The athletes are staying in the containers one after another, spending a night there before waking up the next morning and getting back to their usual routine before heading to training.
\n\nThe compact rooms leave little space to move around, with the athletes having to adjust to a confined setup that offers just enough room for a bed, storage and other basic necessities.
\n\nCommonwealth Games bronze medallist and discus thrower Seema Kaliramna was impressed by the idea behind the unusual setup, even though adjusting to the compact space was not easy initially. Having spent two nights inside the container at NIS Patiala, Seema said the experience gave her a better understanding of what awaits the athletes in Japan.
