\n\nNew Delhi: The row over the alleged assault on the father of a student protester at Jantar Mantar has intensified after a video surfaced in which self-styled "Hindutva influencer" Swatantra Bhardwaj purportedly claimed that political connections helped him avoid jail.
\n\nThe video triggered attacks from opposition parties and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), even as Delhi Police rejected claims that the accused had received undue protection and said legal action had been taken in the case.
\n\nIn the video, Bhardwaj is heard speaking about the alleged assault on Sanjay Kumar, father of student protester Nishu Azad.
\n\n"I cracked the skull of Nishu's father. Do you know which section this crime attracts? Section 307. He needed 60 stitches. The man was being taken away in an ambulance in a serious condition. His daughter was standing outside the police station and saying that she would die by suicide if her father didn't get justice. But I was not even jailed. The world should know this. I was out and about through the night," Bhardwaj is heard saying in the video.
