Roger Federer is delighted to see Alexander Zverev finally play his best tennis. Zverev is having his best year in tennis. For years, the German was among the best tennis players, but struggled to win Grand Slams. However, he ended the drought in 2026, winning the French Open and the US Open.

Speaking in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Federer said that he is incredibly happy for Zverev for winning the two titles, saying that given his abilities, the Grand Slams were long overdue.

“Given his ability, these two titles were long overdue. That’s why I was incredibly happy for him," Federer said.

“He dared to play bold tennis even in the big matches," he added.

“When I watch him play, I see someone who plays far too passively, far too defensively in the decisive moments. Against the best players in the world, you have to take the initiative and play offensively. He didn’t do that against [Taylor] Fritz,” said Federer.

Federer then had advised Zverev to play offensive tennis from the baseline.
