The US Pentagon has released a new batch of declassified documents on unidentified flying objects (UFOs), including a previously sealed account from a military officer who claimed to have seen a spacecraft and the bodies of its alleged crew following the 1947 Roswell incident. The documents, made public on Friday, include a statement signed in 2002 by an unnamed officer whose account is believed to be that of Walter G Haut, the former public information officer at Roswell Army Air Force Base in New Mexico.

In his statement, the officer said he had seen an unusual craft and what appeared to be the remains of its crew inside a guarded military hangar known as Building 84. "I am convinced that what I personally observed was some type of craft and its crew from outer space," the witness said.

The account adds to decades of speculation surrounding the Roswell incident, one of the most widely discussed UFO cases in history. However, the witness's claims have not been independently verified, and the US government has maintained that no physical evidence has been recovered proving the existence of extraterrestrial life.
