Patrick Clancy, the former husband of Lindsay Clancy and father of the three children she was accused of killing, has reacted to the mistrial declared in her murder trial. A mistrial was declared Friday afternoon after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict on whether Lindsay Clancy was criminally responsible for killing her three young children.
\n\nAbout an hour after Judge William Sullivan declared the mistrial, Patrick Clancy released a statement through his attorneys, thanking the court and jurors for their work throughout the trial.
\n\nIn his statement, Patrick Clancy said the loss of his children has left him without the possibility of closure and described the prospect of another trial as deeply painful.
\n\n“Patrick Clancy is grateful to the Court and to the jurors for their hard work, their commitment, and their perseverance. The loss of Patrick’s children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure. The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful — for Patrick, for his family, and for all us,” the statement read.
\n\nThe mistrial came on the seventh day of jury deliberations following several dramatic developments inside the courtroom.
