Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as the web-slinger has turned into one of the biggest box office events in years, crossing $1 billion worldwide in just six days, a pace matched only once before, by 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which had reached the mark off the back of a record $1.2 billion opening weekend.

The Sony-Marvel release has broken records on both sides of the Pacific, Variety reported. In North America, it became the fastest film ever to cross $400 million domestically, hitting $407 million after just four days, and also delivered the biggest Monday in box office history with $47 million, topping the previous high of $40 million set by Black Panther in 2018.

Overseas, the film has added $645.8 million to date. Its opening alone was staggering: a $360 million domestic weekend and $932 million globally, marking the largest domestic debut ever and the second-largest global debut of all time, alongside the biggest preview night ($72 million) and single-day opening ($169.8 million) on record. With strong word-of-mouth and little competition ahead, the film is expected to reach $2 billion, a milestone only seven other movies have ever hit.

The film is the fourth movie this year alone to cross $1 billion, joining The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($1.001 billion), Michael ($1.001 billion), and Toy Story 5 ($1.067 billion), with Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey — currently at $912 million — closing in on becoming the fifth. It’s a run that has made 2026 the strongest year for billion-dollar blockbusters since before the pandemic, 2019 saw a record nine films cross the mark, but no year since has managed more than three.

The film has been just as dominant in India. The film pulled in ₹72.44 crore on its opening day — the biggest single-day start ever recorded for a non-Indian release in the country, ahead of the previous mark set by Avengers: Endgame — with close to a million people turning out for it on that Thursday alone. Its haul kept climbing from there: PVR Inox alone reported opening-weekend collections above ₹135 crore, while the film’s extended, four-day opening weekend nationally totalled ₹328.5 crore, already fourth on the all-time list of Hollywood earners in India just four days in.

By day six, the film’s India total had climbed into the ₹300 crore club, a tier only Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water had previously reached among Hollywood titles, and it got there faster than either, taking just six days against Endgame’s ten.

Day-wise breakdown put collections at ₹61 crore, ₹48.3 crore, ₹70.8 crore, ₹77.5 crore, ₹23.6 crore, and ₹21.3 crore across the first six days, for a running net total of ₹302.5 crore (roughly ₹356.94 crore gross). That leaves it third overall among Hollywood releases in India, trailing Avatar: The Way of Water (₹390.6 crore) and Avengers: Endgame (₹373.22 crore).

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day stars Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo, per Rediff. Holland first played Peter Parker in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War before headlining Spider-Man: Homecoming and going on to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, a cameo in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
