\n\nFormer FBI official Nikki Floris broke down in tears outside a federal courtroom on Tuesday as she faced a preliminary hearing over allegations that she and another former bureau official lied to Congress about their knowledge of Hunter Biden’s laptop. Floris and former FBI official Bradley Benavides surrendered last week.
\n\nBoth face up to five years in prison if convicted of making false statements to the House Judiciary Committee in 2023 about their involvement in discrediting reports concerning the laptop.
\n\nNikki Floris served as the FBI’s deputy assistant director for counterterrorism and was part of the bureau’s Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF). She and Benavides are accused of making false statements to the House Judiciary Committee about their knowledge of Hunter Biden’s laptop and their involvement in handling related media inquiries.
\n\nDuring her 2023 testimony before the House panel, Floris said she had no knowledge of the laptop. Benavides, meanwhile, claimed he first learned about it through Wikipedia.
