India continued its domination of the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships (CFC), which are currently taking place in Nigeria’s Lagos from August 9th to 14th at the Rugby School in Eko Atlantic City. On the third day of action, the country secured five medals.

This tally on the third day of action in the senior events included an incredible three gold medals as well as one silver and one bronze medal each. They now have an overall tally of 29 medals, including eight gold, seven silver, and 14 bronze medals.

The senior women’s foil event saw a remarkable moment as both the gold and silver medals were won by an Indian. Kanaglakshmi won a historic gold medal, becoming the first Indian to achieve the feat. Meanwhile, Joy’s Ashitha secured a silver medal. Englishwomen Georgia Green and Emily Goodchild shared the bronze medal.

Rajendran Shanthimol Sherjin won India’s second gold of the day by securing the top prize in the senior men’s épée discipline. He defeated South Africa’s Kruger Piete, who was forced to settle for a silver medal. The bronze was won by Wales’ Burkhardt Marc and South Africa’s Losevsky Sergey.

Karan Singh won India’s third gold of the day by winning the senior men’s sabre event. He won the summit clash against Shim Yoong. The Australian fencer won the silver medal. There were two Indians on the podium in this event too, as Kumaresan Padma Gisho Nidhi secured a bronze medal. Nigeria’s Akinyosoye Oluwafolayemi also secured a medal by winning one of the two bronze medals on offer in the event.

Earlier, India won seven medals on the second day with one gold, two silvers, and four bronze medals. Tanishka Khatri (Senior Women’s Epee event) stood on top of the podium. Earlier, they won 17 medals on the first day of the event.
