Medical aspirants from across the country have once again stormed X with tweets voicing their concerns over the handling of examinations. This time, the issue arose minutes after NBEMS issued the NEET PG 2026 city intimation slip on Tuesday, with many reporting discrepancies in the test city information, as SMSes and the official candidate portal display different allotted cities. At the time of publishing, the board has acknowledged the issue and stated that it is being rectified.

On August 11, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) issued city intimation slips for candidates registered for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET-PG) scheduled for August 30, 2026. The board intimated the applicants of their allotted cities, allowing them to plan their travel and accommodation via both their respective applicant logins and registered mobile numbers.

Although intended to ease the process, the dual intimation spread a wave of panic among the aspirants, with many allegedly receiving different city allocation information via SMS and applicant login.

“As a software developer, watching NBEMS traumatise my brother with an SMS saying his NEET-PG centre is Manipur (while we live in Gujarat!), only for the official portal to show the correct location, peak tragedy,” one X user tweeted.

“NEET-PG aspirants are being treated like a joke. NMC sends an SMS mentioning one test city, while the login portal shows ANOTHER city. And it gets worse. Students who carefully selected 3 preferred cities/states are being allotted a FOURTH STATE altogether. A candidate from Kerala being sent all the way to Agartala?” another one wrote, summing up the frustration of many.

Following several representations, the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) posted a tweet voicing concerns of those struggling with the issue and seeking clarity from the board.

“FAIMA has received multiple reports of mismatched Test City information- SMSes from NBEMS are mentioning different random cities across India, while the official candidate portal is showing the local/allotted city. This has created unnecessary panic among aspirants who may need to arrange travel and accommodation.”

“NBEMS must urgently clarify the discrepancy and confirm which information candidates should rely upon. Aspirants need clarity, not confusion,” the tweet reads.

NBEMS, through a poster, has informed that due to “technical glitches”, some candidates have been apprised of incorrect test cities, adding that SMS and Emails indicating the correct test city allotted have been sent thereafter.

The board said that correct details of the test city are also published in the applicant portal for all candidates on the official website.

NBEMS further advised the candidates to refer to the official website for accurate information on the allotted test city.
