Sarah J. Maas has finally given ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ fans the news they have been waiting for, revealing the official titles, covers and release dates for the next two books in her enormously popular fantasy romance series.

The sixth instalment will be titled ‘A Court of Splintered Harmony’ and is scheduled to arrive on October 27, 2026. It will be followed just a few months later by ‘A Court of Forgotten Melody’, which is due for publication on January 12, 2027. Maas confirmed both titles on August 17, while her official website now prominently features the two forthcoming releases.

A New Chapter Begins With The Valkyrie Cycle

The two books will begin a fresh narrative arc known as The Valkyrie Cycle. ‘A Court of Splintered Harmony’ carries the subtitle ‘The Valkyrie Cycle: Movement I’, while ‘A Court of Forgotten Melody’ will encompass ‘Movements II & III.’

Rather than functioning as two largely self-contained novels, the forthcoming books form part of a much larger continuous story. Maas has previously explained that the narrative became so expansive that it had to be divided into multiple volumes. A further instalment is expected to complete the cycle, although a title and publication date for that book have not yet been announced.

The Valkyries became an important part of the ACOTAR world in ‘A Court of Silver Flames’, when Nesta Archeron, Gwyn and Emerie revived the legendary group of female warriors. The name of the new cycle has therefore immediately prompted speculation about how prominently the trio will feature.

Trouble Returns To Prythian

Official details remain deliberately limited, but the central threat is already clear. ‘A Court of Splintered Harmony’ will see Koschei the Deathless emerge as a major danger while Prythian continues dealing with the consequences of the war with Hybern. Members of the Night Court will be forced to work together as the fragile peace surrounding them begins to fracture.

Maas has teased the sixth novel with the phrase “What was broken will be remade”, while the seventh carries the promise that “What was lost will be reclaimed.”

Those clues have already encouraged theories about unresolved relationships, missing powers and unfinished conflicts across the series, although Maas has not confirmed the many fan predictions circulating online.

The Covers Signal A New Era

The visual identity of the forthcoming books also marks a departure from recent ACOTAR editions. Instead of a single dominant colour, the new covers use blended gradients and striking illustrated creatures. ‘A Court of Splintered Harmony’ features fiery pink and orange tones, while the artwork introduces imagery considerably darker than the romantic styling associated with some earlier editions.

The sixth book is currently listed at 352 pages, while the seventh is expected to be considerably larger.

For readers who have waited since ‘A Court of Silver Flames‘ appeared in 2021, the most striking detail may simply be how little waiting remains. With two major ACOTAR releases arriving within months of one another, Maas is not merely returning to Prythian. She is opening what appears to be one of the most ambitious chapters in the series yet.
