Far-right activist Jake Lang took part in a rally in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Saturday, where clashes were reported between his supporters and counter-protesters. The demonstration, initially promoted as the “N-March”, was organised by Lang and local far-right groups. Protesters marched towards Minneapolis City Hall, reportedly calling for the resignation of Mayor Jacob Frey.

The rally was met by counter-protesters near City Hall, according to local broadcaster KSTP. Videos from the scene showed a car being attacked as it left the area. KSTP reported that Lang was surrounded by protesters before leaving in the vehicle. He was not seen outside the car.

Videos shared on social media appeared to show counter-protesters being sprayed with a substance during the clashes. Some protesters alleged that members of Lang’s group used pepper spray or bear spray against them.

The claims could not immediately be independently verified.

One video shared by journalist Oliya Scootercaster appeared to show a counter-protester being sprayed and struggling before getting up and leaving the area.

Lang had announced the rally on 24 July, describing it as a “peaceful freedom of speech rally”. He had also said that Siloh Hendrix would be among the guests, although it was not immediately clear whether Hendrix attended.

The Minneapolis demonstration came just days after Lang was involved in another protest in Dearborn, Michigan.

On 18 August, Lang organised an anti-Muslim demonstration in Dearborn called the “Christian Crusade March”.

Lang and his supporters were met by counter-protesters outside a Dearborn City Council meeting, where he also addressed councillors.

The confrontation was largely limited to protesters shouting slogans at each other, with no major clashes reported.

Dearborn City Council President Michael Sareini thanked residents for showing restraint.

“We had a plan that was executed flawlessly, and Dearborn won yesterday,” she said. “We protected the Constitution and the laws of the state of Michigan and the laws of the United States of America, and we will do that every time.”
