New Delhi: At least six people were injured after a group of men allegedly attacked passersby with knives in Delhi’s Mangolpuri area on Friday evening, police said.
The attacks took place in three lanes of L Block in Mangolpuri, creating panic among residents and people in the area. The injured were taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment. Two of them were later referred to Safdarjung Hospital, police said.
Police teams have started scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify and arrest those involved in the attacks. A preliminary investigation suggests that an old enmity may have been behind the incident. Police also suspect that some of the accused could be juveniles.
Local residents alleged that the attackers also robbed people during the incident. The claims are being verified as part of the ongoing investigation. Police have launched a probe to establish the exact sequence of events and identify all those involved. Further details are awaited.
In a separate incident, a 17-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death after an argument with three youths near a railway track between Nangloi and Mangolpuri stations on Thursday evening, police said.
The victim, a resident of Mangolpuri, was making reels with his friends near the Raj Park industrial area at around 6 pm when three youths, aged between 17 and 20, approached the group and objected to their activities.
An argument soon broke out between the two groups. During the altercation, one of the accused allegedly held the victim while another handed a knife to the third youth, who stabbed him in the abdomen.
The three accused then fled the spot.
