Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand have lost their BWF World Championships 2026 semi-final match against the World no.1 women’s doubles duo of Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning of China. They have thus ended their campaign with a bronze medal. This also brings India’s campaign at the mega tournament to a close, as this is the only medal that the country achieved in their home campaign. The unseeded India duo showed a lot of fight, but ultimately fell prey to the experience of the World no.1 Chinese duo.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand have thus become only the second Indian pair to win a medal in the women’s doubles category of the BWF World Championships. Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa had also won the bronze medal in this category in the 2011 edition of rhe tournament.
