The individual or group claiming responsibility, going by “Cyberleek,” has kept posting updates despite the takedowns. Cyberleek has framed it as pushback against how the gaming industry now sells its products, pointing to licenses marketed as purchases, incomplete games released as ongoing services, and content withheld from discs only to be sold later as add-ons. The group’s message argued that publishers are pocketing money while giving players less each year, and warned that no company is immune from this kind of exposure.
Since debuting in 1997, “GTA” has built its identity around open-world crime sagas where players roam invented cities pulling off missions. This upcoming release marks a first for the series: after 28 years, Rockstar is skipping a physical disc entirely.
“GTA VI” is currently set to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19. The leak has surfaced roughly a week before Netflix was due to air an extended preview of the game. The franchise’s first trailer dropped back in December 2023, and anticipation has built since, given that the last mainline entry, “GTA V,” came out in 2013.
