AAIB releases preliminary report on Phuket to Delhi Air India flight.
\n\nA month after the August 04 Air India incident that had left passengers traumatized and the rest concerned, India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has now released a preliminary report on the incident. For context, Air India flight AI-2379 from Phuket to Delhi dropped abruptly for about 300 feet in altitude during its cruise phase, leading many to demand an investigation into the matter. Today, September 04, AAIB released a preliminary report on the incident, as per which it has been observed that the ‘PIC was found non-negative for psycho-active substance in the confirmatory’.
\n\nReportedly, a detailed investigation regarding technical and other aspects are underway. The confirmation of use of psycho-active substances is a serious concern, and the AAIB has recommended appropriate actions by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on priority.
\n\nReportedly, the prelim report also confirms Hydraulic failure. The report does not yet establish the technical cause of the hydraulic-system failure or the overall accident cause. The investigation is ongoing, and a final report is to follow.
