Closing Bell: Sensex Jumps Over 360 Points, Nifty Near 24,900 Mark

Indian benchmark indices ended higher on Friday, with the Sensex rising 362.57 points, or 0.48 per cent, to 76,515.43, according to indicative closing data. The Nifty 50 gained 24.25 points, or 0.10 per cent, to 23,897.70. Indian equity markets staged a strong recovery on Friday after four straight sessions of declines, with the Sensex gaining more than 700 points and the Nifty moving back above the crucial 24,000 mark during intraday trading.

The rebound followed a positive trend across Asian markets and stronger overnight performance on Wall Street. A shift in expectations surrounding the US Federal Reserve’s interest-rate trajectory also helped improve investor sentiment, while lower bond yields provided additional support to global risk assets.

During intraday trading, the Sensex had climbed 722.37 points, or 0.95 per cent, to 76,875.23. The Nifty was at 24,003.45, gaining 130 points, or 0.54 per cent. The broader market also participated in the recovery. The Nifty Smallcap 100 was up 0.6 per cent, while the Nifty Midcap 100 advanced 0.2 per cent.
