Gurnoor Brar showed the world why the Indian team has given him a long rope and invested in him ahead of the 2027 Cricket World Cup, as he produced career-best figures of 4-30 in the second ODI between India and New Zealand at the Hnry Stadium in Wellington on Saturday (November 7). The star pacer's pace and bounce proved impossible for the home team batters to deal with, his first spell proving a game changer as he conceded just eight runs in six overs while taking two wickets.

As New Zealand were bowled out for just 130, Gurnoor was the star of the show and finished as the pick of the bowlers. He dismissed Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips and later returned to dismiss the home team's captain Mitchell Santner and Nathan Smith.

Brar's bowling figures are the best by an Indian bowler in New Zealand in 24 years. Overall, this is the third-best performance by a player from India in the country in history (second-best by a pacer), only behind the legendary duo of Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath.
