Hardik Pandya's return to competitive cricket has been delayed as he hasn't been named in the Baroda cricket team for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Pandya has suffered a few injuries since IPL 2026 and hasn't played a professional game since May. The star Indian all-rounder missed the home series against Afghanistan. He was later ruled out of the UK tour. Pandya was set to make his return to the game for India A against Australia A, but another injury ruled him out.

Pandya, the former vice-captain of the white-ball teams, could make his return for Baroda in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Pandya will return directly in IPL 2027 if he doesn't play for Baroda in the List A tournament. Pandya hasn't played international cricket since the 2026 T20 World Cup final, where India defeated New Zealand to lift the trophy for the third time.
