Apple kicked off its "Surprise and Shine" event on Wednesday, September 9, from the Steve Jobs Theater, unveiling a new wave of hardware and software under CEO John Ternus in his first keynote since taking over from Tim Cook. The event opened with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, followed by Apple's first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, AirPods 5 and new Apple Watch models.
\n\nApple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max with a focus on Apple Intelligence, performance, battery life and camera upgrades.
\n\nA20 Pro chip: The new 2-nanometre A20 Pro chip features a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU and 32-core Neural Engine. Apple says it delivers up to 20% faster CPU performance, up to 40% faster graphics and 2x the Neural Engine compute, alongside a 50% increase in memory bandwidth.
\n\nBattery life: iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 24 hours of general use per charge, while iPhone 18 Pro Max reaches up to 30 hours. Video playback is rated at up to 36 hours and 45 hours respectively on eSIM-only models. Apple has also increased wired charging speeds, with a 50% charge possible in around 15 minutes.
