\n\nFor the second consecutive season, Premier League teams have broken the record for the most money spent in a single transfer window. Manchester City's £125 million acquisition of Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea brought the total summer expenditure to nearly £3.5 billion. Spending surpassed last season's record of £3.14 billion thanks to a hectic last two days before the window closed at 2200 GMT on Tuesday. With multiple deals over £100 million, almost half of the English top flight's clubs also smashed their individual transfer records.
\n\nThe British record price Liverpool paid for forward Alexander Isak a year ago was matched by Fernandez's transfer to City. Alongside Elliot Anderson, who came from Nottingham Forest for £116 million, the Argentina midfielder will be part of a redesigned City midfield.
\n\nAdditionally, City spent more than £450 million this summer after acquiring Senegalese forward Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for £65 million.
