Indian athletes preparing for the upcoming Asian Games are facing increased scrutiny over their use of herbal supplements, with Kida Jadi among the products drawing attention. Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) officials have been conducting random checks on elite Indian athletes, while experts have raised concerns that some locally sourced herbal supplements may carry a risk of an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) if they contain undeclared prohibited substances.

Kida Jadi, also spelled Keeda Jadi or Kida Jadi Buti, is the traditional name commonly used for Ophiocordyceps sinensis, a rare parasitic fungus associated with caterpillars and found naturally in high-altitude Himalayan regions. The fungus infects a moth larva underground and eventually grows out of its body, which explains its unusual appearance and its traditional reputation as a vitality-boosting remedy.

It has been used for centuries in traditional medicine, particularly for combating fatigue and improving vitality. Today, it has also found a place among some athletes looking for a supposedly natural way to support stamina, endurance and recovery.
