Mitchell Starc and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were involved in a heated exchange during Day 2 of the first Test in Darwin. Starc, who was already frustrated with Australia’s tough position in the contest, confronted Miraz when he ran through the protected central section of the pitch while completing a quick run. The incident happened during the 103rd over of the Bangladesh innings.

Miraz played the delivery towards point and set off for a quick run. He was ball-watching and changed his trajectory towards the protected area. The two players almost came close to a collision, leaving Starc unimpressed. “It’s my follow-through, not your follow-through. Get off the wicket,” said Starc in the video shared by Cricket Australia.

Meanwhile, on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena immediately approached Mehidy and appeared to warn him about the incident. The batter also tried to explain that he was watching the ball and didn’t see Starc in his path.

A first such incident is usually let go with a warning; however, following the first and the final warning, runs can be disallowed, and five penalty runs can be given to the bowling team.
