Suriya’s latest release, Vishwanath And Sons, is winning all the love from fans, and box office collection during the Independence Day weekend serves as proof. Directed by Venky Atluri, the family drama saw a rise in collections on Saturday, with audiences turning up in larger numbers across Tamil and Telugu markets. According to Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 22.25 crore net in India on Day 2, recording a 45.0 percent jump over its opening-day collection of Rs 15.35 crore. Starring Suriya, Mamitha Baiju, Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon, the film has now crossed Rs 74 crore worldwide after two days.

Vishwanath And Sons is also close to matching Dhanush’s Kara and could potentially push it out of the top 10 highest-grossing Kollywood films in India in 2026. Suriya’s Karuppu continues to lead the list with Rs 198 crore amid competition from Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.

Vishwanath And Sons collected Rs 22.25 crore net in India on Day 2, marking a 45.0 percent rise from its Rs 15.35 crore opening-day figure. The film recorded 59.0 percent overall occupancy across 5,157 shows, compared with 42.2 percent across 5,034 shows on Day 1. Its two-day India net now stands at Rs 37.60 crore.

The Tamil version contributed Rs 13.75 crore, with 56.0 percent occupancy across 3,226 shows. Its overall occupancy stood at 65.76 percent, with morning, afternoon, evening and night shows recording 40.46 percent, 73.92 percent, 69.31 percent and 72.46 percent, respectively. The Telugu version earned Rs 8.50 crore across 1,931 shows, recording 64.0 percent overall occupancy. Its morning, afternoon, evening and night shows registered 55.83 percent, 76.58 percent, 70.92 percent and 81.83 percent, respectively.

Vishwanath And Sons Nears Rs 75 Crore Worldwide

The film also recorded a strong state-wise performance. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributed Rs 9.50 crore, while Tamil Nadu added Rs 10.75 crore. Karnataka contributed Rs 3.25 crore, Kerala Rs 1.75 crore and the rest of India Rs 48 lakh. The total state-wise gross for Day 2 stood at Rs 25.73 crore, taking the India gross to Rs 43.47 crore.

Overseas markets added Rs 17.00 crore on Saturday, taking the total overseas gross to Rs 31.00 crore. With its India gross, Vishwanath And Sons has reached Rs 74.47 crore worldwide after two days. The film has recovered 29.2 percent of its total budget, with Sunday expected to boost the numbers further.

Produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas the film released in Tamil and Telugu, it features Suriya as Sanjay Vishwanath, an industrialist and professional pistol shooter.
