Manchester Super Giants defeated Trent Rockets by five wickets in the 2026 Men’s Hundred final at Lord’s to win their first championship in the competition, ending their trophy drought. The victory is especially noteworthy for the RPSG-owned Super Giants team, who had previously advanced to the main franchise cricket playoffs and finals without winning a championship. Prior to the 2026 season, the Manchester team—previously known as Manchester Originals—was renamed Manchester Super Giants.

Manchester needed Tim Seifert’s incredible 72 off 38 balls to chase 159, and Liam Dawson’s six in the last over sealed the win. The outcome marks a significant beginning to the Super Giants’ new era and their first major franchise prize.

Super Giants Win First Trophy

To defeat Trent Rockets by five wickets and win the team’s maiden Hundred title, the Manchester Super Giants overcame a late batting wobble. In order to reach 159, the Super Giants needed a simple three off the final nine balls. However, Heinrich Klaasen was removed by Mohammad Amir, and Michael Bracewell and Ben Sanderson bowled two dot balls to reduce the score to three off three.

But with two balls remaining, Liam Dawson maintained composure to knock the game-winning six over mid-wicket. Tim Seifert of New Zealand had set up the chase with an incredible 72 off 38, which included four fours and seven sixes in a vicious show of strength. Finn Allen’s incredible relay effort on the boundary was disallowed because his foot touched the boundary rope before he hopped over, preventing him from being a clear contender for the catch of the tournament, even tho the Rockets had the opportunity to dismiss Seifert on 33.

As a result, the Rockets, who finished first in the standings and advanced directly to the final from their last group game on Monday, were unable to become the first team to win both the men’s and women’s divisions in the same edition of The Hundred. They had a strong foundation with to Ben Duckett’s 31, but the Super Giants took control after skipper Sam Billings was run out for seven and Tim David fell first ball to Noor Ahmad in just four deliveries.

The Rockets improved to 158-8 thanks to rapid cameos of 20 from Mitch Santner and 32 from Lewis Gregory after Aneurin Donald blasted 38 off 19. However, it turned out to be subpar as Seifert and Paul Walter, the Super Giants’ standout player in the Eliminator, combined 66 off 31 balls for the first wicket before Jos Buttler temporarily delighted the 27,416 spectators with three sixes in his 23 off 14.

The Old Trafford-based team, formerly known as the Originals but renamed the Super Giants this season, lost two men’s finals in the past, notably to the Rockets in 2022, which is still their only men’s championship.
