After a near-perfect start on the first day of action, the likes of Lakshya Sen and Unnati Hooda will headline a busy day for the host nation on Tuesday (August 18) as they kickstart their campaign in the 2026 BWF World Championship at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi. Like Monday (August 17), there will be five Indians in action.

Lakshya, who won the bronze medal in the 2021 World Championship, will start his campaign as he aims to become the first Indian male shuttler to win multiple medals in the tournament and also get a place on the podium. The 24-year-old will face Austria’s Collins Valentine Filimon.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Unnati Hooda will also make her debut in the World Championship and is regarded as the next big thing in Indian badminton. The teenager became the third Indian women’s shuttler after PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal to enter the top 20 of the ranking in women’s singles.

Meanwhile, after starting with a victory, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela will play their second game in the women’s singles in the round of 32. Rohan Kapoor/Ruthvika Shivani Gadde and Rohan Kapoor/Ruthvika Shivani Gadde will kickstart their campaign in the mixed doubles.
