Dhruv Jurel proved the team management correct with a half-century in India’s first innings of the Galle Test against Sri Lanka. With Sarfaraz Khan coming in as Sai Sudharsan’s replacement, the management had to choose between Jurel and Sarfaraz. The management retained Jurel in the final XI and he slammed a half-century. Spinner Prabath Jayasuriya dismissed the right-handed batter. Deep Dasgupta shared his take on Jurel’s dismissal and revealed why he was ‘happy’ with the manner in which he got out. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Dasgupta said: “I was happy to see the way Dhruv Jurel got out, in a way, as the turn was a big positive for me going forward.”

“If we assume that we will have even 8-9 sessions in the rest of this game, we may have around 180 overs remaining. The quality of the Indian spinners is much better, even though Manav is just coming in. From what I have seen, I am quite confident the quality is better than the Sri Lankan spinners,” he added.

Jurel committed to the shot early but was deceived by the spin. The ball took the leading edge and went straight into Dhanajaya de Silva’s hand at the first slip. Dasgupta was elated with the spin on the pitch and opined that this would help the Indian bowlers.

Indian spinners dominate day three

The Indian spinners have dominated the proceedings on day three and have scalped four wickets so far. Manav Suthar struck with his first ball and dismissed senior batter Dinesh Chandimal. He also dismissed Lahiru Udana. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja have scalped one wicket each.

Sri Lanka are six down for 239 runs. India were on top at one stage and they had Sri Lanka reeling at 90/5. Niroshan Dickwella and Sonal Dinusha brought SL back into the game by adding 146 runs for the sixth wicket.

Dickwella missed out on scoring his maiden Test century again and departed for 80. Prasidh Krishna dismissed the senior batter in the fifth over after the lunch break.
