Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday married his longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez after nearly a decade together. The Portuguese football star, 41, and Rodríguez, 32, tied the knot in a civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on 11 August 2026, according to a press release.

Ronaldo announced the marriage on social media by sharing a photograph of the couple’s hands showing their wedding rings. “C❤️G,” he captioned the image.

The wedding comes exactly one year after Rodríguez announced their engagement on Instagram. “Sí, quiero. En esta y en todas mis vidas,” she wrote alongside a photograph of her hand resting on Ronaldo’s, showing her large oval-shaped diamond engagement ring. The phrase translates as: “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”

Ronaldo and Rodríguez have five children between them: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 8, daughter Alana, 8, daughter Bella, 4, and Ronaldo’s 15-year-old son Cristiano Jr, from a previous relationship.

The couple previously announced the death of Bella’s newborn twin brother, Ángel, in April 2022.

Ronaldo first met Rodríguez in 2017, when she was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store. The pair made their first red-carpet appearance together in January that year at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich. By May, their relationship had become public on Instagram when Ronaldo shared a photograph of the couple.

In Rodríguez’s 2022 Netflix series, I Am Georgina, Ronaldo spoke about the beginning of their relationship. He described Rodríguez as a “very interesting girl, so much more mature for her age”, while Rodríguez said they had “a very special start” to their romance.

Ronaldo said he initially did not expect the relationship to become serious, but eventually fell in love with her. “I didn’t think at the beginning that [the relationship] would be this strong, that I would fall in love with her. I didn’t expect it, honestly,” he said. “But after a while, I felt that she was the woman of my life.”

Rodríguez later recalled Ronaldo’s marriage proposal in a December 2025 interview with Elle Spain. “The truth is, when he proposed, it was the last thing on my mind,” she said. “It took me a long time to process the enormous stone he gave me. I was so shocked that I left it in my room and didn’t open it in the sunlight until the next day.”

Describing the engagement ring, Rodríguez called it “gorgeous” and joked: “It’s the least he could offer me after 10 years of waiting.”
