Like Taylor Swift, who kept her wedding dress under wraps, Georgina Rodríguez has kept her bridal look a mystery. But her Met Gala mantilla-style veil may offer a clue.

Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has married his partner of more than a decade, Georgina Rodríguez. The wedding was a low-key affair, with the couple opting for a civil ceremony in Portugal. They announced their wedding through a shared Instagram post that showed their hands adorned with wedding rings. The wedding took place in the coastal town of Cascais, near Lisbon, and was attended by their five children. The post set the internet on fire, racking up millions of likes within minutes of being posted.

They announced their engagement on 11 August last year and married exactly a year later. At the time, Rodríguez posted a picture of a large ring, writing, “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives” in her native Spanish.

The couple first met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant and Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid. Their relationship has since grown into a family of seven, with the couple raising five children together.

But the picture revealed little beyond their hands and the wedding rings. And while the wedding itself may have been kept intimate, one question is already doing the rounds: what did Georgina wear?

The media had been speculating about Georgina’s wedding gown as their wedding date drew near. In that sense, Ronaldo and Georgina appear to have taken a page from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s book. The couple also kept Swift’s wedding dress under wraps, despite their highly publicised wedding at Madison Square Garden on July 3. Even after the wedding, Swift’s bridal look remains largely under wraps, leaving fans and fashion watchers waiting for a glimpse. The only hint everyone had was that it was designed by Christian Dior Haute Couture’s creative director Jonathan Anderson.

So, could Georgina’s recent red-carpet wardrobe offer a clue to what she might have worn down the aisle?

One key outfit that has everyone talking, and hoping it offers a glimpse into her wedding-day aesthetic, is her Met Gala 2026 look from May. Georgina wore a sheer veil on the red carpet, which is as bridal as it gets. Her outfit was a Ludovic de Saint Sernin creation that followed the theme of “Costume Art”. Georgina’s appearances on the red carpet over the years have shown that she prefers silhouettes that accentuate her hourglass figure. Her Ludovic de Saint Sernin Met Gala look featured a corseted bodice and a fitted skirt that flared at the bottom. While she is often spotted in strapless styles, this time Georgina wore a halter-neck number.

The mantilla-style veil that Georgina wore to the Met Gala could also have made an appearance at her wedding. For the unversed, the mantilla-style veil is a traditional head covering worn by Spanish brides. Georgina had also dedicated her pale blue Met Gala look to her Catholic faith, explaining that her custom gown and veil paid homage to the Virgin of Fátima.

That makes the veil particularly interesting. Could the religious symbolism, the sheer fabric and the distinctly bridal styling have made their way into her wedding look too? There is no way of knowing yet, but if Georgina did take inspiration from her Met Gala ensemble, we may already have seen a hint of what she chose for her big day.

For now, we can only wait and watch.
